Mermaids….do you love or hate them?

So I got in many dresses to day trying to get some photos for the website and facebook etc…. In the mix were several mermaids. I think it is either a love or hate relationship with this style of dress. What you do you think….are they great or too much?

Bridesmaids matching…a thing of the past?

It seems that all the rage lately is bridesmaids’ dresses that coordinate but do not totally match. Check out this picture from stylemepretty.com by joielala photographie. The bridesmaids all coordinate and look great together, but definitely lack the identical dresses. What do you think? Is this best since every shape is so different or our we losing a time tested tradition?

Champagne Inspired Weddings

When I got married a little more than seven years ago someone gave us a book of advice for newlyweds, one of the statements in there that I loved was don’t save champagne just for special occasions. Well as a champagne lover you didn’t have to tell me twice. I have enjoyed champagne just because on many occasions.  Now I have heard that brides and grooms are using champagne as the theme for their wedding. I for one love it. Martha Stewart weddings has 14 great ways to incorporate champagne into your special day. Bride on a Budget?

Are you a bride on budget? These days so many of us are, so what options do you have for a wedding dress? Well for starters most new order-able gowns cost around $800 and up. That said this is usually a more basic gown. If you are looking for something with a little more bling you might have to be creative in your shopping. Maria Lin on Living Frugally gives 6 tips for scoring a cheap wedding dress. http://www.learnvest.com/living-frugally/style-and-beauty/would-you-buy-a-used-wedding-dress/. In her post she talks about sample sales, online venues, and some mass retailers such as JCrew etc… However she left out the famous Running of the Brides at Filene’s Basement, and the local used wedding gown shop. There are many used and sample wedding gowns for sale online, but would you buy a dress without trying it on, or even seeing it? What do you think? Online wedding gowns a good idea? Or would you prefer to try them on? If the price was low enough would you buy it sight unseen anyway? Let me know!
